About The AJMR

What is The AJMR?
AJMR stands for "American Japanese Music Resource".
This is a site is to document American activities by individuals who are part of Japan's music industry. Right now, we aggregate news from all over the internet and provide resources to our readers.
We are not limited to one genre; The AJMR is based out of Los Angeles.

Why does this site exist?
After talking to many fans, we discovered that Americans had no problems finding information on their favorite artists, but were instead having issues finding about local events. Many only found out after tickets sold out, or the day after it happened. It's tiresome to sort through blogs, news sites, social networking sites, anime con databases, and mailing lists just to find what Japanese artists are up to in the US. The AJMR does the work for you.

How is it different from other blogging and news sites?
The AJMR is different because we focus only on music and only on activity in the USA. In addition, we provide a service for people researching Japanese artists' activity in the US, for fun or for academia. You can even hire The AJMR to do your research for you.

Just the US?
Canada will come up occasionally because most of Canada's major cities are close to our northern border, and often artists will pop over to Vancouver or Toronto on a tour.

At this time, we do not publish information on Latin America. This is mostly due to the fact that The AJMR does not currently have staff who speak Spanish or Portuguese, and therefore, we cannot properly fact-check our information regarding these locations.

What do you not cover?
The AJMR does not focus on news relevant to Japan on an internal level - such as releases, tour dates, press, relationship rumors - nor do we post anything about film, television, models, or manga and anime unless it's relevant to music. We do not cover classical or traditional music, and we do not cover cultural festivals or events (besides conventions).

Do you accept submissions?
Yes please! If you have news we should post or a tip we should investigate, please send it our way. If you have found an ad in the paper for an artist's performance or would like to send us a flier for archiving, we would love to see it. We also accepts submissions for our videos of the week, but please make sure it's on the official channel.

How can I contact The AJMR?
You may reach us at theajmr at gmail dot com.

A note on "Japanese music":
For the sake of clarification, The AJMR would like to define what we mean by "Japanese music". We understand that music imported from the Japanese music industry is not one uniform thing. It is not one sound, one genre, one style. The closest way to define what we call Japanese music is music performed by Japanese citizens who have resided most of their lives in Japan.
